Allan Odawa Jr - Chief
Service Description: Operates a self government and is responsible for the day to day operations of the Red Rock Indian Band
  • Tribal Council: Independent (does not belong to Tribal Council)
  • Political Territorial Organization: Union of Ontario Indians (UOI)
  • Robinson-Superior Treaty


Functions as the governing office for the community; oversees all community programs, services and facilities
Activities and services for community members also include but are not limited to the following:
  • Child and Family Services provided through Dilico Anishinabek Family Care, Nipigon Office
  • Hospital/ambulance services available at Nipigon District Memorial Hospital and Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre
  • Ontario First Nation Policing arrangements through Lake Helen Reserve, Red Rock Band Police
  • Serviced by air through the Thunder Bay Airport, located approx 1 hour S of Nipigon
  • Participates as a member of Waaskiinaysay Ziibi Inc., an economic development corporation made up of five Lake Nipigon First Nations
  • Provides a Community Centre which is a hub for activities and events; available for community members to book for private events
  • Provides many cultural activities including Pow-wows, community sweats, sharing circles, arts and crafts, and traditional healing and Elders activities
  • Hosts an annual Salmon Derby in early September
  • Offers basic health care and health programs through a Health Office
  • Supports a Public Works building and Water Treatment Plant
  • Provides a Volunteer Fire Department that works closely with the Nipigon Fire department
  • Offers St. Sylvester's Historic Catholic Church
  • Owns and operates Chalet Lodge, a 22-acre resort with a main lodge and six refurbished cabins
