Service Description: Operates a self government and is responsible for the day to day operations of the Red Rock Indian Band
  • Tribal Council: Independent (does not belong to Tribal Council)
  • Political Territorial Organization: Union of Ontario Indians (UOI)

Offers a restorative approach to justice for youth
  • Brings together victims with young people alleged to have committed non-violent offences and their parents to negotiate an appropriate way for the young person to make amends for his or her actions
  • Provides an alternative to formal court proceedings
  • Provides an opportunity for healing and reparation for individuals and communities
  • Gives priority to the offender accountability, needs of the victims, and community wellness and healing
  • Provides assistance at virtual court hearings

Fees: None
Application: Individuals charged with a Criminal Offence(s) and Certain Provincial Offences such as the Liquor License Act and Trespass of Property Act and who normally reside on Lake Helen Reserve or the Township of Nipigon may apply
Eligibility / Target Population:
  • Youth members between 12-17 years of age and adults of Red Rock Indian Band who have committed a minor, first-time offense

  • Must be willing to participate in the program/interview

  • Must be aware of their options and rights and be prepared to be accountable and to repair harm done
