Service Description:
  • Addresses public health issues and promotes healthy living
  • Administers health promotion and disease prevention programs within the Kenora and Rainy River Districts


  • Provides programs and services to alleviate and prevent chronic disease
  • Collaborates with community nursing teams, external coalitions and agencies to implement the programs
  • Administers the following programs and services:
    • Active Living - Physical Activity and Sedentary Behaviour
    • Healthy Living
    • Nutrition
    • Tobacco Free Living
    Focuses on the following areas in an effort to reduce premature death and disability from chronic disease and injury and substance abuse:
    • Injury Prevention
    • Substance Abuse Prevention
    Health Works
    • Provides various health-related resources including pamphlets, posters and assessment tools to workplaces on how they can improve the health of their work environment
    • Offers a comprehensive workplace health promotion model that includes start-up packages, health hazard checklists and safe water information
    Skin Cancer Prevention
    • Promotes sun safety and protective measures and the risks associated with exposure to the harmful ultraviolet rays from the sun and artificial sources
