Service Description:

Governed by an elected council of 13 members: the Mayor, 5 Councillors-at-Large and 7 Ward Councillors, municipal elections are held every 4 years
Provides social support, safety, security and friendship for home-bound isolated seniorsAlleviates loneliness, social isolation and stress on family caregivers Friendly Visiting Program- Provides one to one friendly visiting by trained volunteers who visit weekly to provide companionship and friendship
Telephone Assurance Program- Offers an ongoing telephone link for social contact and security reasons between a volunteer and a senior citizen
- Volunteers call on a regular basis, either daily or weekly Monday to Friday
Walk A Bit Program- Provides a volunteer to accompany a senior for a walk on a weekly basis to get out of their home or apartment

Eligibility / Target Population:

Home-bound isolated seniors living in their own home/apartment
Volunteers
- Must be 18 years of age and older
- Must provide a successful criminal records check
