Service Description:
  • Supports individuals involved in the criminal justice system (i.e. Court Services, Re-Integration, Programming, etc.) or those who might be at risk for involvement
  • Transitional housing offers support to individuals experiencing homelessness
  • Housing outreach services are also available


  • Supports people who are at risk or involved in the criminal justice system through service, reform, education and advocacy
    Offers the following programs and services:
    • Bail Verification and Supervision Program
    • Direct Accountability Program
    • Community Service Order
    • Community Re-Integration Services
    • Residential Services
    • On-Track Program (Geraldton, ON and Westgate High School, Thunder Bay)
    • Remote Community Intervention Program
    • Remote Youth Counsellor Services
    • Suspension of Record Services
    Walk-In Services
    • Anger Management Program
    • Anti-Criminal Thinking
    • Employment assistance
    • Education assistance
    • Housing searches
    • Housing support services
    • Life Skills
    • Mental Health First Aid Basic
    • Mental Health First Aid for Adults who interact with youth

    • Walk in clients as well as by appointment

    • If incarcerated in Thunder Bay, inmates can put in a request at the institution they are in to see a John Howard Society representative
    Eligibility / Target Population:
    • Remote Community Intervention Worker Program - 12 years and older for individuals from Fort Hope, Webequie, Weagamow, and Long Lake 58

    • Remote Youth Counsellor Services - 12 years and older for youth from Fort Hope, Webequie, Weagamow, and Long Lake 58


    • Assistance looking for community housing and other supportive services - 16 years and older


    • On-site housing services and programming - 18 years and older
