Service Description:
  • Provides non-perishable food items to registered individuals as well as those in an emergency situation
  • Provides a grocery store voucher for perishable items such as milk and eggs
  • Coordinates food bank with volunteer efforts from program users (stocking shelves, setting up etc)
  • Donations of non perishable food items and/or cash accepted at main office
  • Receipts issued for cash donations
  • Operates a second hand thrift store that sells clothing, outerwear, foot wear, sporting goods and small household items



  • Fees: Food Bank: None - Client is asked to volunteer with stocking the shelves


    Thrift Store: Service - Items sold at low cost
    Application:
    • Requires registration; forms are available at the Mary Berglund Community Health Centre Hub and the Ontario Works office

    • Registration expires every year and must be renewed annually


    Thrift Store: No application process
    Eligibility / Target Population: Individuals and families in need

    • Non-perishable items are limited to visits twice per month

    • Voucher for perishable items is limited to once per month; valid for one month from issue date; redeemable at both grocery stores in Ignace


    Thrift Store: No restrictions
