Service Description:

Operates a self government and is responsible for the day to day operations of the Ojibways of Onigaming First Nation- Tribal Council: Anishinaabeg of Kabapikotawangag Resource Council
(AKRC)Political Territorial Organization: Grand Council Treaty #3 (GCT3)Treaty #3
Offers community based family counselling for children, teens, men, women and families as a groupProvides assessments and case management servicesProvides services of traditional healersOffers community workshops to raise awareness of issues affecting families including substance abuse and family violenceSupports community initiatives that promote family healing such as traditional gatheringsAlso offers the following family support services including but not limited to:- Advocacy and referral to external agencies
- Assistance in the planning of child's and family's needs
- Emergency financial assistance for basic needs only in cases where the welfare of child/children is at-risk
- Home visitation arrangements and supervision to enable parents to visit with their children living in alternative care

Eligibility / Target Population:

- Members of Ojibways of Onigaming First Nation
- Children younger than 18 years of age and their families
- Emergency financial assistance is provided ONLY in extenuating circumstances and each case is treated and considered separately
- Home visitation is available for families who have children in alternative care; request for visitation must come from birth family
