Service Description: Operates as a non-status Ojibwe First Nation; Namaygoosisagagun FN has applied for official Band Status and reserve lands; currently awaiting approval

Functions as the governing office for the community; oversees all community programs, services and facilities
  • Consists of approx 40 members presently residing in community of Collins; other members scattered throughout NW Ontario with some families registered to First Nations in Treaty #3, Treaty #9 and Robinson-Superior Treaty
  • Provides a small elementary school up to Gr 7 for community students; older students attend schools in Thunder Bay
  • Seeking funding to construct a sawmill and a community business centre on lands that will be acquired from three separate current owners including Canadian National Railway (CNR)
  • Participates in fish netting surveys with Anishinabek/Ontario Fisheries Resource Centre on Collins Lake to determine fish populations
  • Hosts an Annual Summer Festival in July for community members to gather for games, special events, and feasts
