Service Description: The Canadian Red Cross Society is part of the largest humanitarian network in the world, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement
This network includes the International Committee of
the Red Cross (ICRC), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (Federation) and 192 National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies dedicated to improving the situation of the most vulnerable throughout the world

  • Partners with local agencies to provide emergency food, shelter and clothing for up to 72 hours for family disasters such as house fires
  • Works in collaboration with local authorities and other agencies to address the immediate needs of individuals affected
  • May provide emergency and disaster services in partnership with first responders, emergency managers, public officials, and in collaboration with other voluntary sector organizations in the case of large scale disasters; these services may include emergency lodging, reception and information, emergency food, emergency clothing, personal services and family reunification
  • Provides various online resources on emergency preparedness
  • Trains volunteers to respond to emergencies and disasters locally
  • Accepts financial donations that are used to assist in local, provincial, and international disasters and emergencies
