Service Description: Offers a food security and diabetes prevention program designed to improve health outcomes for urban Indigenous people?
Coordinates and delivers food-related services, activities and initiatives including:
  • Increased access to traditional and nutritional foods through food bank, good food boxes, community meal programs, and food vouchers
  • Educational information, videos and workshops about healthy eating and meal preparation
  • Cooking, budgeting and nutritional classes
  • Land-based activities such as hunting, fishing, berry picking, gardening and harvesting
  • Teachings from local Elders and Traditional Knowledge Keepers
  • Support for existing diabetes and health promotion programs

Application: Requires a signed consent form and completion of program intake form
Eligibility / Target Population: Open to all individuals with a focus on off-reserve Indigenous peoples
