Service Description: Provides financial assistance for low-income and moderate income families to cover some of the extra costs of caring for a child who has a severe disability, such as:
  • travel to doctors' appointments, hospitals and other appointments related to the child's disability
  • special shoes and clothes
  • parental relief such as respite

Eligibility / Target Population:
  • Children 17 years of age and younger who are severely disabled with a permanent functional loss in one or more areas of development

  • Must reside at home with their parents/caregivers

  • Monthly benefit is determined by the extraordinary expenses directly related to the child's disability and the gross family income

  • Medical travel expenses not covered by the Northern Travel Grant may be allowable
