Service Description:
  • Operates on-reserve Aboriginal Head Start program to prepare young children for school years
  • Strives to meet the emotional, social, health and nutritional needs of children
  • Offers activities such as family gym time, arts and crafts, and circle time
  • Provides breakfast and lunch to children in program
  • Participates in community events and special celebrations
  • Offers daily programs focused on:
    • Education
    • Health and nutrition
    • Native culture and language
    • Parental and family involvement
    • Social support

    • Requires completed registration application and

    • Child's birth certificate and copy of updated immunization record
    Eligibility / Target Population:
    • Members of Deer Lake First Nation

    • Preschool children from 15 months to 6 years of age and their families
    Languages: English
    Language Notes: Cree, Oji-Cree, available upon request
