Service Description:
|
Offers a variety of community services in the area of safety and health including the following:
Medical First Response Services- Provides volunteer-based Medical First Response at local community events
Therapy Dog Program- Takes a volunteer and their dog to visit hospitals, retirement homes, and long term care facilities within the community
- Evaluates volunteers and their dogs to become part of the program
Car Seat Inspection Program- Invites parents to make an appointment to ensure their car and/or booster seats are installed and secured correctly and to ensure that children are safe while out on the road
Youth Services- Offers children and youth ample opportunity for fun, along with learning first aid and life skills while giving back to the community
- Offers SJA Connect, a health, safety and leadership development program to prepre youth to assist in community emergencies and disasters
- Provides a Youth Cadet Program with training, local community volunteering services, leisure activities and participation at local events to teach youth to become valued and vital community members
Ladies Auxiliary- Raises money through cookbook and yard sales to support St John Ambulance services

Eligibility / Target Population:
|
- Medical First Response Team: Volunteers must be at least 16 and have a St John Standard First Aid and Level C CPR Certificate
- Therapy Dog: Must be at least 18 and own a dog (dog will be evaluated for correct temperament)
- Youth Services: Children and youth between 10-18 years of age
