Service Description: Serves as a mandated Native Child Welfare agency in Northwestern Ontario
  • Created by Chiefs of Nishnawbe-Aski Nation to follow a cultural service model of child protection services which involves parents, extended family members, elders, community resource workers and First Nation leaders but no court orders/involvement
  • Delivers a full spectrum of culturally appropriate prevention, early intervention and child protection services to ensure the safety of children and the well being of families
Responsible for the administration of the following programs and services, based upon the Mamow Obiki-ahwahsoowin (Everyone working together to raise our children) service model:
  • Customary Care Services
  • Customary Care Services, Wee-chee-way-win Circle of Healing
  • Foster Care
  • Oshkee Meekena Youth Healing Centre in Cat Lake
  • Prevention and Support Services
  • Residential Services
