Service Description:

A rural health care organization that includes the Atikokan General Hospital, Atikokan Family Health Team and Atikokan Community Counselling to provide a range of health care and community services to residents in the Town of Atikokan and surrounding areas in the Rainy River District
NOTE: Do not call the Atikokan General Hospital Emergency Department seeking medical advice. Due to legal reasons the emergency department staff are unable to provide advice or information over the telephone
Offers a smoking cessation program to assist individuals in quitting tobacco useConducts initial assessment to determine the patient's smoking habits and health profile to provide the appropriate treatmentProvides self-management support and strategiesAssists patients released from hospital to remain smoke-free after dischargeOffers the following support and services:- Education and information
- Counselling
- Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) that can include a patch, lozenges, gum and inhalers
- Prescriptions for Champix or Zyban (through FHT Pharmacist)
Note: Patients will qualify for up to six months of free nicotine replacement therapy
