Service Description:
|
A rural health care organization that includes the Atikokan General Hospital, Atikokan Family Health Team and Atikokan Community Counselling to provide a range of health care and community services to residents in the Town of Atikokan and surrounding areas in the Rainy River District
NOTE: Do not call the Atikokan General Hospital Emergency Department seeking medical advice. Due to legal reasons the emergency department staff are unable to provide advice or information over the telephone
Provides mental health services and support- Offers individual assessment and treatment planning
- Provides supportive mental health counselling to community at large
- Offers mental health support to all programs of the Family Health Team
- Conducts home visits for individuals who have trouble leaving their home
- Will accompany clients to appointments if requested
- Provides referrals to local and out of town community service providers
- Provides individual and public education and information sessions
Also provides:- Advocacy on various committees and boards for increased mental health programs
- Individual bereavement and grief counselling
- Coordination of a mindfulness group to teach patients better stress management

Eligibility / Target Population:
|
- Individuals 13 years of age and older experiencing mental health issues; do not require a formal diagnosis
- Will provide referrals to required agencies for children younger than 13 years of age
