Service Description:

A rural health care organization that includes the Atikokan General Hospital, Atikokan Family Health Team and Atikokan Community Counselling to provide a range of health care and community services to residents in the Town of Atikokan and surrounding areas in the Rainy River District
NOTE: Do not call the Atikokan General Hospital Emergency Department seeking medical advice. Due to legal reasons the emergency department staff are unable to provide advice or information over the telephone
Offers the option of having a patient's International Normalized Ratio (INR) tested to determine thickness or thinness of the patient's bloodServes as an alternative to going to the hospital labUses a "Coagucheck" monitor to offer the point of care (POC) testingProvides new dosage instructions, if required, to patient under a medical directiveProvides counselling for managing blood levels with medications, lifestyle choices and dietProgram information also includes:- Option of attending INR nutrition classes in partnership with FHT dietitian
