Service Description:
|
Serves as a non-political Chiefs Council which provides support and advisory services to nine First Nation communities
Serves as an advisory group and offers supportive services as requested of regional Chiefs and Councillors under Jordan's Principle, a child first and need-based principle (not a program) that ensures First Nation children living on and off reserve have equitable access to all government-funded public services- Provides support for community Jordan's Principle Coordinators
- Assists in preparing and submitting requests to Jordan's Principle
- Offers assistance to access approved products, services and support
- Supports requestors to prepare and submit an appeal to Indigenous Services Canada if denied service
- Facilitates training and workshops for community representatives
Services covered can include the following:- Medical health services
- Medical supplies and equipment
- Long-term care for children with specialized needs
- Education supports and and services
- Assessment and screening tests
- Professional assessments and services
- Services for children in care
- Summer service programs
- Family coaching
- Cultural support and service including land-based education
- Technical or electronic aids
- Respite care
- Reimbursement cost

Eligibility / Target Population:
|
Must belong to one of the member First Nations in the Bimose Tribal Council territory
Any child 17 years of age and younger who permanently resides in Canada on or off reserve including children in foster care or adopted and meets one of the following criteria:
- is registered or eligible to be registered under the Indian Act
- has one parent or guardian who is registered or eligible to be registered under the Indian Act
- is recognized by their Nation and meets an identified health, education or social need for the purposes of Jordan's Principle
- is ordinarily resident on reserve
