Service Description:
|
Designated Physiotherapy Clinic (DPC) providing government-funded services to those who may lack funding for physiotherapy services. Services are based on specific Ministry of Health criteria.
Functions as a rehabilitation clinic offering physiotherapy, occupational therapy, social work, chiropractic and kinesiology
Therapy programs include:
- Advanced Spine Care
- Advanced Orthopaedic Manual Therapy
- Certified Medical Acupuncture
- Certified Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) Acupuncture
- Electrical modalities (including laser therapy, ultrasound and muscle stimulation)
- Sports Training and Conditioning programs
- Vestibular (inner ear and balance) Rehabilitation
- Shift Concussion Management Interprofessional Program

Eligibility / Target Population:
|
To qualify for the government-funded Designated Physiotherapy Clinic (DPC) program, patients must be:
- Individuals requiring physiotherapy services that have been referred by a physician or nurse practitioner for an acute (new) change in their physical status
- Must be insured under the Health Insurance Act and have a valid Ontario Health Card
- Must be within one of the following categories:
- Aged 65 or older
- Aged 19 or younger
- recently discharged as in inpatient of a hospital for conditions directly connected to the condition, illness or injury for which they were admitted
- Eligible for Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) or the Ontario Works (OW) program
Note: Patients currently receiving physiotherapy funding under Workers Compensation, Motor Vehicle Accident insurance or other third party payers, and patients with chronic conditions that are unchanging are not considered eligible for this program.
