Service Description: Provides a wide range of community-based and culturally appropriate programs and services for Indigenous people living in an urban environment

  • Promotes increased participation in sport, physical fitness and recreation, and other programs that encourage healthy lifestyles
  • Offers individual and group information sessions on fitness and nutrition topics
  • Assists individuals in creating a personalized fitness program and provides supervision while participant performs the program
  • Offers specialized fitness and nutrition programs for:
    • Children
    • Youth
    • Women
    • Seniors and disabled adults
    Healthy Eating, Healthy Weight
    • Offers a weight management program
    • Provides encouragement and health information to support individual in achieving wellness goals
    Smoke Free Living/Smoking Cessation
    • Provides education and resources about initiatives to quit smoking
    • Offers a support group including mentors who have gone through the process of smoking cessation
    Youth Leadership
    • Provides workshops to teach youth leadership skill development
    • Addresses topics including conflict management, decision making, goal setting, teamwork, time management and developing and presenting workshops

    Application: Requires a signed consent form and completion of program intake form
    Eligibility / Target Population: Open to all individuals 7 years of age and older with a focus on off-reserve Indigenous peoples

    Fitness and Nutrition Programs

    • Children's Groups: 7-12 years of age

    • Youth Groups: 13-18 years of age

    • Senior's Groups: 50 years and up
