Service Description: Provides a wide range of community-based and culturally appropriate programs and services for Indigenous people living in an urban environment

Provides culturally appropriate education, programs and support to improve the health of expectant Indigenous women and their babies
  • Promotes pre/post natal nutrition and healthy lifestyles
  • Provides information and support for all stages of pregnancy, including preparation for labour and delivery
  • Provides breastfeeding education and information
  • Offers adult and teen individual and group prenatal classes
  • Offers home and hospital visits
  • Provides infant formula and baby food to individuals in an emergency situation
  • Provides an infant weigh scale for use anytime
  • Provides referrals to other supports and services
  • Provides cultural craft times and teachings
Nutrition Education
  • Teaches about shopping on a budget
  • Advises on pre/postnatal nutrition and food supplements
  • Offers information and education about gardening
Our Family Circle
  • Offers fellowship and information on parenting and related topics for parents

Fees: Service - Small fee for rental of electric breast pumps and infant car seats; None for other services
Application:
  • Requires a signed consent form and completion of a program intake form

  • Call ahead to reserve breast pump or infant car seat, rented on first come basis
Eligibility / Target Population: Urban Indigenous women who are pregnant or planning on becoming pregnant and their infants up to 6 months of age
