Service Description: Serves as a non-political Chiefs Council which provides support and advisory services to seven First Nation communities

Manages a secure custody facility for Indigenous youth in conflict with the law
  • Aims to reconnect youth with Indigenous heritage and traditions to enhance their capacity to make better choices after the transition to community life
  • Accommodates 12 youth with separate areas for 8 males and 4 females
Provides the following culturally appropriate rehabilitation programs and services:
  • A ceremonial space to learn and practice cultural ceremonies
  • An educational program to help youth further academic studies and develop skills
  • Traditional teachings and Aboriginal history
  • Anger management sessions and counselling
  • Life skills education and training

Application: Referral only through Court system
Eligibility / Target Population: Indigenous youth 12-17 years of age from Northwestern Ontario in conflict with the law and are being detained or serving sentences
