Provides culturally sensitive maternity care, including prenatal, labour, birth, and postnatal careProvides clients with all the necessary information regarding their care so that informed decisions can be madeProvides skilled physical and emotional support during labourProvides clinical monitoring after birth, in addition to continued emotional support, information, and guidanceOffers a choice of birthplace, either in the home or at the hospitalWorks with other health professionals to share care of clients if concerns arise during pregnancy, labour, birth, or postpartumOffers postnatal visits to examine breastfeeding, the baby's weight, the mother's physical and emotional well being and to discuss family planning and the first year of feedingOffers resources in the office including books, pamphlets, and handouts
