Service Description: Operates a self government and is responsible for the day to day operations of the Eabametoong First Nation

  • Responsible for planning, developing and implementing all social, recreational and special events for members of the community
  • Provides various activities such as arts and crafts, baking nights, movie nights and outdoor sports events
  • Organizes and supervises various outdoor activities for youth during summer months such as baseball, football and soccer
  • Coordinates a hockey program during the winter months at the Joseph Jacob Nate Memorial Arena; has an 8-team hockey league
  • Offers boys and men's hockey tournaments and men's/women's broomball tournaments
  • Coordinates summertime concerts at the natural ice arena
  • Recreation events, services and facilities include:
    • Beach, at east end of community
    • Community Hall
    • Gymnasium
    • Indoor hockey arena for winter sports and also used for feasts, social gatherings, indoor sports activities
    • Playground at John C Yesno School
    • Pow Wow grounds
    • Recreation trails along shoreline
    • Sports field for basketball and baseball
    • Winter Carnival
