Service Description: Coordinates the delivery of health care services to the Anishinabe people across the Sioux Lookout region

  • Works as part of a regional initiative to help First Nation communities to prepare, plan, develop and implement their own community-driven treatment programs/approaches to address prescription drug abuse (such as opioids) and the underlying mental health issues that influence substance abuse and addiction
  • Coordinates services through a team made up a Project Facilitator, an Addiction Specialist and a Mental Health Specialist
  • Optional services can include:
    • Initial Community Assessment, required before any additional services can be delivered
    • Assistance with the Development of a Community-Action Plan
    • Assistance with the Development of a Project Proposal to Submit to Health Canada
    • Assistance with Program Design, including development of pre-treatment, short-term withdrawal/detox, in-patient residential, out-patient day programming, land-based programming, medication assisted/Suboxone, and aftercare
    • Assistance with Training and Capacity Development
    • Support during Program Implementation and Evaluation
    • Establishing and Strengthening Links to other mental health and addictions services
