Service Description: Operates a self government and is responsible for the day to day operations of the Wauzhushk Onigum Nation

Functions as the governing office for the community; oversees all community programs, services and facilities

Activities and services for community members also include but are not limited to the following:
  • Community members conduct most shopping and business affairs in the city of Kenora which is within close proximity to Wauzhushk Onigum
  • Child and Family Services worker on-reserve provided through Anishinaabe Abinooji Family Services in Kenora
  • Hospital and ambulance services available at Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora
  • Ontario First Nation Policing arrangements through Treaty #3 Police
  • Fire Prevention Services offered by Anishinaabeg of Kabapikotawangag Resource Council; ph 807-226-4445 Ext 224, fireprevention@akrc.on.ca
  • Also contracts fire protection services from the City of Kenora Fire and Emergency Services
  • Hosts the annual Honouring Our Children traditional powwow at the Wauzhushk Onigum owned Pow Wow Island
  • Owns and operates the on-reserve Golden Eagle Casino & Gaming Centre
  • Offers the Anishinabe of Wauzhushk First Nation Public Library
  • Coordinates health care and health programs at the Wauzhushk Onigum Medical Clinic
  • Administers Kinew Child Care Centre
