Service Description: Operates a self government and is responsible for the day to day operations of the Biinjitiwaabik Zaaging Anishinaabek (Rocky Bay First Nation) members
  • Tribal Council: Nokiiwin Tribal Council (NTC)
  • Political Territorial Organization: Union of Ontario Indians (UOI)
  • Robinson-Superior Treaty


Functions as the governing office for the community; oversees all community programs, services and facilities

Activities and services for community members also include but are not limited to the following:
  • Child and Family Services worker on-reserve provided through Dilico Anishinabek Family Care, Nipigon office
  • Hospital services available at Geraldton District Hospital and the Nipigon District Memorial Hospital
  • Ontario First Nation Policing arrangements through Anishinabek Police Service, MacDiarmid-Rocky Bay Detachment
  • Provides a Canada Post postal station independently by a Band member
  • Serviced by air through Nipigon Municipal Airport located 56 km from community
  • Hosts an annual Pow Wow, children's Christmas and Halloween parties, an annual Fall/Spring Hunt and other events for community residents
  • Offers a Hardy Gas Bar/Convenience Store and Beamish Variety Store
  • Provides a Recreation/Community Centre equipped with full kitchen facilities and shower/washroom facilities
  • Maintains an indoor rink facility including a zamboni
  • Provides an Education Authority which administers Biinjitiwaabik Zaaging Elementary School
  • Provides health care and health programs at the Medical Centre
  • Operates a Volunteer Fire Department
  • Maintains a Water and Waste Water Treatment
