Service Description: Provides culturally appropriate health and social services to member First Nation communities

Provides services aimed to:
  • Prevent Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) and Fetal Alcohol Effects (FAE) births
  • Increase the knowledge, skills and quality of life of FAS/FAE affected children and families
Offers the following services:
  • Provides education and information on the consequences of alcohol consumption during pregnancy
  • Offers individual and group counseling sessions
  • Offers parenting classes
  • Provides information sessions for teens

Fees: None
Application: Services are provided locally within each community
Eligibility / Target Population:
  • Members of participating First Nations

  • Families of children who have been diagnosed with or are suspected of having Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD)

Language Notes: Ojibway, Oji-Cree; available upon request

Anishinabe of Wauzhushk Onigum, Eagle Lake First Nation, Grassy Narrows First Nation, Iskatewizaagegan 39 Independent First Nation, Naotkamegwanning First Nation, and Northwest Angle 33 First Nation
