Service Description: Operates a self government and is responsible for the day to day operations of the Animakee Wa Zhing #37 First Nation

Delivers medical transportation services and assistance in making medical appointment arrangements
  • Provides transportation to medical appointments within the community
  • Provides transportation from/to Windigo Island community to any medical appointments (doctor, dentist, optometrist etc) mostly in Kenora and Vita, Manitoba
  • Provides assistance with making arrangements for any medical appointments out of town such as booking appointments, hotels, and completing applications for mileage compensation

Fees: None
Application: Medical appointments out-of-town are usually coordinated for Tuesdays and Thursdays

  • Requires written proof of medical appointment

  • Requires 24 hour advance booking; exceptions made for emergencies

  • Advance cancellation recommended
Eligibility / Target Population: Members of Animakee Wa Zhing #37 First Nation (Northwest Angle 37) residing on Windigo Island who require assistance with medical transportation due to illness, injury or age
