Service Description: Operates a self government and is responsible for the day to day operations of the Wawakapewin First Nation

Functions as the governing office for the community; oversees all community programs, services and facilities

Activities and services for community members also include but are not limited to the following:
  • Wawakapewin affairs are mostly coordinated through the Sioux Lookout office
  • Child and Family Services provided through Tikinagan Child and Family Services; served through the main Sioux Lookout office, ph 807-737-3466 fax 807-737-3543
  • Hospital services available at Meno Ya Win Health Centre in Sioux Lookout and the Margaret Cochenour Hospital in Red Lake
  • Reserve community is serviced by air through the closest airport in Kasabonika Lake, located 37 km to the NE of community
  • Accesses health services through the Nursing Station in Kasabonika Lake First Nation
