Service Description:
|
Operates a self government and is responsible for the day to day operations of the Sandy Lake First Nation- Independent First Nation (No Tribal Council affiliation)

Organization: Nishnawbe-Aski Nation (NAN)Treaty #5
Responsible for planning, developing and implementing social, recreational and special events for members of the community from school aged to elders- Provides recreational services at the Sandy Lake First Nation Arena
- Maintains arena ice surface and equipment
- Oversees a volunteer-operated concession booth at arena
- Provides a community outdoor ice rink known as Moccasin Square Garden
- Coordinates community events such as Treaty Days
- Works with other community programs to host organized events
Coordinates a variety of activities including:- Annual Derek Kakegamic Memorial hockey tournament
- Seasonal broomball games
- Cheyanne Kakegamic Memorial broomball tournament
- Annual Fishing Derby with top prize of new truck
- Winter road bingo game
