Service Description: Operates a self government and is responsible for the day to day operations of the Anishnaabeg of Naongashiing

Delivers medical transportation services and assistance in making medical appointment arrangements
  • Provides transportation from/to Big Island to any medical appointments (doctor, dentist, optometrist, specialist) in the towns of Emo, Fort Frances and Rainy River
  • Provides assistance with completing prior approval applications for long distance medical appointments
  • Provides assistance with making arrangements for any medical appointments out of town such as booking appointments, hotels, and completing applications for mileage compensation
NOTE: Transportation will only be provided during regular business hours; after hours emergencies will be provided by ambulance services

Application:
  • Requires written proof of medical appointment

  • Requires 24 hour advance booking; exceptions made for emergencies

  • Advance cancellation recommended
Eligibility / Target Population:
  • Members of Anishinaabeg of Naongashiing First Nation who are residents of the community and do not own their own vehicle

  • Clients requesting local medical transportation must return the same day except in case of hospitalization
