Service Description: Provides an alternative Native child welfare program which is administered by each of the Rainy Lake Tribal Area First Nations communities

Provides clinical support and treatment services for children's mental health issues and behavioral, emotional and social difficulties
Offers specialized programming in the following areas:
  • Bullying
  • Child development
  • Domestic violence intervention
  • Personal safety
  • Self-esteem
  • Sexual abuse prevention
  • Suicide prevention and intervention
Methods of treatment can include:
  • Behaviour management
  • Counselling (individual and group)
  • Grief recovery programs
  • Play therapy
  • Positive parenting

Fees: None
Application: Intake assessment required
Eligibility / Target Population: Must be a member of any of the 9 First Nations communities in the Rainy Lake Tribal Region either on/off-reserve




Psychological services can be accessed by:

  • Children 18 years of age and younger in care and their families

  • Children and families receiving child welfare services

  • Children and careworkers at Giizhikaandag Healing Centre

  • Community Care teams
