Service Description: Provides a primary health care clinic and outreach programs for Indigenous individuals and families

  • Promotes healthy lifestyles and prevention of disease and its complications
  • Offers individual and group counselling
  • Hosts baby food making workshops
  • Supervises individual and group grocery store tours to educate individuals on making healthy food choices, food budgeting and label reading
  • Topics addressed include:
    • Celiac disease
    • Cholestrol and heart health
    • Diabetes prevention and management
    • Healthy eating and lifestyle
    • Hypertension
    • Vitamin and mineral deficiencies
    Breast Feeding Program
    • Offers nutrition advice during pregnancy
    • Offers breast feeding education
    • Provides loan of breast pump on first-come basis
    Healthy Living Food Box
    • Operates a community-based food purchasing system that makes fresh fruits and vegetables available to participants
    • Charges a small fee each month from participants in exchange for a large box of fresh fruits and vegetables

    Healthy Living Food Box Program

    • $25 fee for each box of produce

    • Order and pay for box by first Wed of month at Gizhewaadiziwin Health Access Centre; pick-up third Wed of month; best to call in advance to confirm pick up location (807)274-3131
    Eligibility / Target Population:
    • Indigenous people living in the Rainy River District both on/off-reserve


    • Breast pump loan available to anyone
