Service Description: Responsible for the delivery of provincially mandated services on behalf of the citizens of the District of Rainy River

Delivers LEAP Emergency Financial Assistance on behalf of the Ontario Energy Board (OEB)
  • Delivers a one time emergency financial assistance to Atikokan Hydro and Fort Frances Power customers
  • Maximum grant is $650 in emergency assistance for their electricity bills ($780 if the home is heated electrically) - grant is credited directly toward electricity bill
  • Agency may be able to arrange a hold on a disconnection notice while a case is being reviewed
  • All decisions can be appealed

Application: Contact local Ontario Works office of community of residence
Eligibility / Target Population:
  • May be available to low-income customers of Atikokan Hydro and Fort Frances Power Corporation (and unit sub-metering providers) experiencing difficulty paying current arrears

  • Decision will be based on several factors including long-term viability of the account

  • Disconnection notice is not required to be eligible
