Service Description:

Offers a wide range of community-based and culturally appropriate programs and services to Métis people
Operates as a program under the Healing and Wellness Branch Provides supports and services to help families improve maternal and infant health and well-being with a focus on the following three areas: Maternal Nourishment that may include:- Baby food making and nutritional cooking sessions
- Healthy snacks and meal information
- Milk and food vouchers as well as vitamin supplements
Nutrition Screening, Education and Counselling includes:- Education on prenatal nutrition
- Understanding food labels
- Presentations by dietitians and health specialists
- Nutrition screening by Community Health Representative
- Individual counselling by nutritionists
Breastfeeding Program includes:- Promotion of breastfeeding initiation and duration
- Support groups
- Breastfeeding videos and resource materials

Eligibility / Target Population:
|
- Métis, First Nation or Inuit women who are pregnant, new mothers or with infants under 12 months of age
- Vitamin supplements, milk and food vouchers are only available to women enrolled in the program
