  • Bell Relay Service is a communication link over the telephone between Deaf and hearing people
  • To talk to a deaf/hard of hearing person through the Bell Relay Service call 1-800-855-0511
  • Give the name, area code and telephone number of the person you are calling
  • Speak slowly so the operator can type what you are saying
  • The operator will place the call and tell you to go ahead when the person you are calling answers
  • Deaf/hard of hearing people dial 711 for the Bell Relay Service operator

Service Description: Offers services, products, and information that remove barriers to communication, advance hearing health, and promote equity for people who are culturally Deaf, oral deaf, deafened and hard of hearing

  • Offers literacy and basic skills training, including numeracy, digital, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Helps learners prepare for employment, apprenticeship, secondary-school credit, post-secondary education and greater independence

    Eligibility / Target Population:
    • Individuals who are culturally deaf, oral deaf, deafened, or hard of hearing

    • Ontario residents 18 years and older, with reading, writing and math skills below Grade 12 of the Ontario Curriculum

    • Must have facility in English or in American Sign Language (ASL)
