Service Description: Operates a self government and is responsible for the day to day operations of the Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug

  • Operates a short-term emergency shelter for abused women and their children
  • Provides a 24-hour crisis line
  • Accommodates a maximum of 10 individuals
  • Coordinates the following support services for residents:
    • Helps women understand options to assist in making life choices
    • Offers assistance in accessing housing, legal and other community services
    • Offers individual counselling

    Application: Requires initial confidential intake assessment
    Eligibility / Target Population: Priority given to First Nation women aged 18 years and older, who have been physically, sexually, financially or emotionally abused and their children, but will accept non-Indigenous women if space is available
