Service Description: Operates a self government and is responsible for the day to day operations of the Poplar Hill First Nation

Functions as the governing office for the community; oversees all community programs, services and facilities

Activities and services for community members also include but are not limited to the following:
  • Child and Family Services worker on-reserve provided through Tikinagan Child and Family Services in Red Lake
  • Hospital services available at Meno Ya Win Health Centre in Sioux Lookout and Margaret Cochenour Hospital in Red Lake
  • Ontario First Nation Policing arrangements through Nishnawbe-Aski Police Services (NAPS), Northwest Region; local phone: 807-772-1030
  • Offers a main Northern grocery store and gas station and the Poplar Hill Motel
  • Operates a Canada Post postal service located at the Northern Store
  • Operates the Poplar Hill Airport, 1.1 km from the community; maintained and serviced by the Ministry of Transportation Ontario and served primarily by Wasaya Airways
  • Administers education services and Ahgwahbuush Memorial School under the Education Authority
  • Coordinates community health programs at the Health Clinic and provides health care from the Nursing Station
