Service Description: Coordinates an inter-agency group of community members that focus on providing financial assistance to children and youth for participation in recreational activities

Works to enhance the lives of children and youth by providing sponsorship for cultural, leisure, and recreational activities for families facing financial barriers to access activities which can include:
  • Art and craft programs
  • Beavers
  • Cadets
  • Cubs
  • Dance
  • First Aid
  • Girl Guides
  • Music
  • Scouts
  • Summer and Sports Camps
  • Sports such as baseball, bowling, curling, gymnastics, hockey, junior football, skating, skiing and swimming
Ongoing initiatives and projects also include:
  • Addressing gaps in services for children and youth in the area
  • Developing and expanding services available to children and youth in crisis
  • Establishing a campaign to promote the message of anti violence and positive self esteem
  • Identifying the need for affordable recreational activities for children and youth
  • Establishing a central access point to post and announce all activities in Dryden for children and youth

Fees: None
Application:
  • Requires submission of completed application by parents

  • Upon approval of financial assistance by committee, parents can register child in recreational activity and show approval letter to the activity provider
Eligibility / Target Population:
  • Children and youth 18 years of age and younger in financial need

  • Requires referral from community agency or group

  • Children are allowed to access 1 long-term activity per season

  • Parents are required to ensure that child attends recreational activity regularly
