For after-hours needs, patients can either call the Telephone Health Advisory Service or go directly to the Manitouwadge General Hospital, where they will be assessed by a Registered Nurse at the Emergency Department

Service Description: Family Health Team includes: Family Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Social Workers, Dietitians, Administration and other professionals
  • Family Health Teams allow physicians and other allied health providers to work as a team to focus on keeping patients healthy
  • The vision calls for physicians, nurse practitioners and other members of the team to practice together in a positive working environment, sharing and benefiting from the complementary knowledge and skills of their colleagues


  • Offers timely access to family and community primary health care
  • Provides access to other health care professionals within and outside of the Family Health Team
  • Coordinates documentation if patient receives care from a member of the team
  • Administers various health programs
  • Offers primary health care including but not limited to:
    • Chronic disease education and prevention
    • Disease management
    • Health promotion
    • Mental health assessment
    • Palliative care
    • Rehabilitation
    Services can include but are not limited to:
    • B12 injections and other injections as prescribed
    • Ear flushes
    • Home oxygen assessments
    • Insurance forms (if required to be completed by Nurse)
    • Phone calls for patient results and friendly checkup calls
    • Weight checks
    Cervical Cancer Screening
    • Provides cervical cancer screening (HPV testing)
    Telephone Health Advisory Service
    • Provides access to a registered nurse that provides advice about urgent health care concerns
    • Offers the opportunity to have family doctor receive a written summary of the call
